Britt Holmström was born in Malmo, Sweden and arrived in Canada in the 1970s. She acquired a visual arts degree from Sheridan College in Ontario before moving to Saskatchewan. She then attended the University of Regina, where she completed both her Bachelor’s and Masters degrees in microbiology. Ultimately, however, she settled on writing as her true calling in life.

Britt is the author of three previous novels, The Wrong Madonna and The Man Next Door published in English, and Peppermint Gin, published in Sweden in the late 1960s. Both The Wrong Madonna and The Man Next Door were finalists for several Saskatchewan Book Awards at the time of their release.

From the author:

I don't know why I wrote this story, because I haven't got a clue where my ideas come from. Suddenly one day a new idea germinates in my head, establishes itself and I get hooked, I have to see where it will lead me. A book idea is an adventure if you let it be in charge; you can only learn from it.
