Gerald Hill has published three previous poetry collections: The Man From Saskatchewan, published by Coteau Books; Heartwood; and Getting To Know You, which won the Saskatchewan Poetry Award in 2004. Published widely in literary journals and anthologies, he has also written the text for a collection of biographies and photographs called Their Names Live On: Remembering Saskatchewan’s Fallen in World War II, 2001.
Born in Herbert, Saskatchewan, Gerald Hill has moved to Regina three times, most recently in 1995, amid stops in Calgary, Rocky Mountain House, Papua New Guinea and Edmonton. He completed an undergraduate degree in Education from the University of Calgary, a diploma in Creative Writing at David Thompson University Centre, Nelson, British Columbia, and a graduate degree in English at the University of Alberta. He now teaches English at Luther College, University of Regina.
